Our Craft workshop day was wonderful. We had such a great time, meeting fellow crafters from Banningham, Cromer, Aylmerton, Roughton and other villages and towns in North Norfolk. Here are just a few photos from the day.
Drift wood houses. Oh this was great! Sawing, cutting, painting, sticking… and fantastic results.
Needle felting. Total beginners all, but the results were amazing. Really good! We had foxes, sheep and even ghosts (well, we are coming up to halloween!)
Book making. A complicated workshop, but oh! the results were wonderful!
Covered box making. What a great present for someone…… trouble was that we all wanted to keep our boxes, we liked them so much. But now we know how to make them we can make more for presents for other people.
Refreshment break were time to chat, and eat cakes and scones!
We’re going to have to do more craft workshops! Watch this space!
Our talk in September was about the work of the Norfolk and Waveney MIND, who support and help those with mental health issues. An amazing range of support is available from this charity. We were reminded that we need to practise mindfulness as a way to keep our own minds healthy. This basically means taking time for ourselves, taking time to do things we enjoy and that help us relax. Things like getting out into the garden, going for a walk in the countryside or a park and just enjoy looking at the trees and flowers.
We went on the Hidden History Tour in Norwich to discover some of the 15th century houses and street that are still below ground, under the houses and streets of our city. The tour guide was absolutely fantastic. This is one of their photos. We really recommend this tour.
On a very hot August day we had our practise workshop for making driftwood houses. We’ve had practise workshops for all the workshops in preparation for the Craft Workshops on October 11th. It’s been great to be learning new skills.
We had a go at bell ringing, we rang by number. great fun!
In July we did a quick visit to Norfolk Lavender to see if was a possibility for a WI visit next year. It absolutely was! It was a very hot day, but we loved it!
The outing to the Sheringham Mo museum was absolutely fascinating. The tea and cakes afterwards weren’t bad either! Climbing up to the look out point in the tower was hard work, but the views were spectacular!
We had an ‘Afternoon Tea On The Lawn’ this afternoon. What a lovely event! What amazing cakes!!
Art Group fun.
