I bought my hotter shoes for a very special trip,
With super built-in comfort when I needed extra zip.
Well, they’ve taken me to China –
And I know there’s no shoe finer.
In Beijing’s Temple Of Heaven
They’ve marched up the Meridian;
They’ve tramped all round Tiananmen
To Mao’s Mausoleum and back again.
In The Forbidden City’s Imperial Quarters
They kept me going without falter;
Sauntering round the Summer Palace Lakes
They’d certainly got what it takes.
Might the Great Wall prove far too taxing?
No way! The stroll atop was quite relaxing.
On the greasy Yangtse gangplanks
Their super solid grip
Made sure that I stayed vertical
Without a single trip.
They’ve sortied round Shanghai
And hung around Hangzhou;
They’ve tramped Xian’s city walls,
Taking in the warriors too.
They’ve clambered to pagodas
And climbed down into caves;
They’ve loitered in the city streets
But rushed from karaoke raves.
They’ve brought me safely home again
And I’ve given them a fresh shine.
Now I’m scouring travel brochures
Ready for another trek next time!
