We had the artist Ruth Mann at our art class last Friday, 13th December. Ruth works in pastels and gave a wonderful demonstration. I’ve tried to do a ‘step by step’ photo account of how she did her wonderful picture Apologies for so many photos but I hops it helps those who weren’t there to see how she built the picture up.
Although Ruth wasn’t able to complete the picture to her satisfaction in the time, it gave us the basics of how to build up the colours, shapes and perspectives. A great morning!
Another new idea. Folding paper with plants between each fold, tying the papers together in a tight bundle and boiling it (honestly!) results in the most amazing patterns being left on the paper! Clare Wilson has done these incredible pieces. She has been been experimenting with this technique for a while … with considerable success, as you can see. If you’d like to know more about this technique, please contact Clare.
We tried something different last week! Clay sculptures!
Our Art group meets every other Friday morning. Jinny leads the group. Currently we are working on watercolour painting, but sometimes we do other things.
